Maui Vacation
Known by its nickname, “The Magic Isle”, Maui produces sugar cane,
pineapples, cattle and horses and is the second largest island in Hawaii. Haleakala
in the eastern side of the island is the largest dormant volcano crater in the
world at over 10,000 feet. The island is home to the largest sugar cane development
still in operation in Hawaii. Maui is also a great place for whale-watching
as many Humpback whales make the ‘Au’au Channel between the Maui
County Islands their winter home.
The island was formed by two volcanoes at the opposite ends of the island,
separated by an isthmus. For this reason, Maui is also known as the “Valley
Isle” with the land in the isthmus being very fertile.
